Vera Wriedt

Vera Wriedt ist Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Käte Hamburger Kolleg für Einheit und Vielfalt im Recht sowie am Lehrstuhl für Internationales Öffentliches Recht und Internationalen Menschenrechtsschutz der Universität Münster. Ihr Forschungsfokus liegt auf Grenzen und Menschenrechten. Sie schloss ihre Doktorarbeit mit dem Titel ‘Bordering Belonging: Colonialism, Nationality and Expulsions in the European and African Human Rights Systems’ an der Hertie School und Ghent University mit summa cum laude ab. Außerdem hat sie einen Master of Arts for Research in Social Sciences von der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, einen Master of Laws in Human Rights der Birkbeck University of London und einen Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics der Universität Oxford. Vor Beginn ihrer Promotion arbeitete Vera im Border Justice Programm des European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR). Außerdem erhielt sie Lehraufträge an der Freien Universität Berlin und der Hertie School für Seminare zu Menschenrechten und Migration. Visiting Fellowships führten sie zum African Centre for Migration and Society an der University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg und zum Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches öffentliches Recht und Völkerrecht in Heidelberg. Veras Forschung wurde unter anderem von der Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, Birkbeck's School of Law, der Hertie School, Ghent University, der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung und der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft unterstützt.

Vera Wriedt is a Research Associate at the University of Münster’s Käte Hamburger Centre on Legal Unity and Pluralism as well as at the Law Faculty's Institute for Public Law and Human Rights. Her research focuses on borders and human rights. She completed her doctoral thesis entitled ‘Bordering Belonging: Colonialism, Nationality and Expulsions in the European and African Human Rights Systems’ at the Hertie School and Ghent University with distinction (summa cum laude). She also holds a Master of Arts for Research in Social Sciences from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, a Master of Laws in Human Rights from Birkbeck University of London, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University. Before starting her PhD, Vera worked in the Border Justice Programme of the European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR). She has taught courses on human rights and migration at Freie Universität Berlin and the Hertie School. Visiting Fellowships brought her to the African Centre for Migration and Society at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and to the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg. Vera’s research has been supported by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, Birkbeck’s School of Law, the Hertie School, Ghent University, the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Max Planck Society, among others.
