Comparative Labour Law: Bridging Italian and Germen Perspectives
It was a great pleasure to host Prof. Dott. Leonardo Battista from the Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna on 16th December 2025 at the Universität Münster. His guest lecture provided a sophisticated academic contribution to our specialized curriculum on "Labor and Social Affairs."
Following a session on Industrial Action Law by Prof. Dr. Friederike Malorny, Leonardo Battista delivered a compelling presentation on "Article 28 of the EU Charter in Action: shaping Italian Collective Bargaining and the right to strike".
The session provided our students with invaluable insights into the Italian legal framework. While comparing the two systems, they explored fascinating differences, such as:
Precettazione: The administrative authority’s power to order a halt to industrial action – a concept hard to imagine in German Industrial Action Law.
Beyond these structural differences, the students could identify significant commonalities in how both jurisdictions navigate the tension between the conflicting interests.
This visit marks the second guest appearance of Leonardo Battista at our faculty. Thank you for enriching our discourse with such stimulating insights! We highly value this continued dialogue between Münster and Bologna.
