Welcome to the Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law at the University of Münster is one of the largest law schools in Germany with some 5,000 students. An above-average number of graduates complete their studies at the Faculty of Law with the excellent grades of “gut” or “sehr gut”. Compared to other law schools in Germany, the study conditions at the Faculty of Law are equally outstanding, as substantiated by numerous rankings.

We place great emphasis on research and teaching, as well as on practical application and internationality. Evidence of the latter is reflected in our numerous partnerships with European and non-European universities and research institutes. International students from all around the world are cordially welcome to study at our faculty – be it only for a semester with the Erasmus programme or an entire master’s degree programme in German Law (LL.M.).

The Faculty of Law is situated in the vibrant university city of Münster, home to over 60,000 students. While proudly looking back on a long academic tradition, Münster is also a young and dynamic city where students enjoy a broad spectrum of free-time activities. Bicycles as far as the eye can see, streets lined with pubs and restaurants, Lake Aa, numerous historical landmarks and a host of cultural offerings – all of this makes Münster one of the best cities to live in.
