Delegation from Kasetsart University visits the Juridicum
Prof. Gerald Mäsch (Institute for International Business Law - Dept I) received a delegation from the Faculty of Social Sciences at Kasetsart University Bangkok, led by Prof Nadhawee Bunnag, Deputy Dean for International Affairs, and Dr Sunisa Bauer, Head of the Department of Law, in the Karl Bender Hall of the Faculty of Law.
In lively discussions, both sides agreed to sign a draft Memorandum of Understanding, subject to review by the University of Münster's legal department, which is intended to lay the foundations for future student exchanges and a wide range of academic collaboration. During a tour of the Juridicum, our visitors also had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the premises of the Faculty of Law.
We look forward to future cooperation with Kasetsart University.
9th journées franco-allemandes in Strasburg
The 9th Journées franco-allemandes took place in Strasbourg from 11-12 May 2023. Organised by the chair of Prof. Gerald Mäsch in cooperation with the University of Bordeaux and the German Association of the Henri Capitant Society, leading legal scholars from France, Germany and Switzerland gave lectures on the limits of consumer protection law.
The Journées franco-allemandes, initiated by Prof. Dr Reiner Schulze and Prof. Dr Guillaume Wicker, are usually held alternately in Bordeaux and Münster. Thanks to the Franco-German lawyer Volkhard Hente, this year's meeting was held at the Bar Association in Strasbourg.
The topics discussed included the personal scope of application of consumer law, the influence of consumer protection law on contract law and current developments in consumer protection in private international law.
In addition to French and German academics, the event was also attended by lawyers specialising in consumer law and members of consumer protection organisations from Germany, France and the EU.
In addition, a group of students from the FFA French and the new double degree programme Lyon-Münster also took the opportunity to gain an in-depth overview of current challenges in Franco-German consumer protection law at the conference. The Münster students' excursion also included a visit to the European Parliament. This gave them the opportunity to follow an ongoing session of the Parliament and ask questions to the MEP for the Münster region, Markus Pieper.
The conference was rounded off with a joint visit to the European Court of Human Rights. In an entertaining presentation, questions relating to European human rights protection and the working methods of the court were explained.
