Prof. Dr. Stefanie Kemme and Dr. Jens Struck from the Chair of Criminology at the University of Münster, together with Prof. Dr. Wilfried Honekamp (German Police University), are publishing the interdisciplinary edited volume "Impacts of Artificial Intelligence on Future Police Work," which will be released by Springer in December 2025.The volume brings together contributions from criminology, law, computer science, and police practice, highlighting the opportunities and challenges of using artificial intelligence in the policing context. The focus is on both technological potentials and ethical, legal, and societal implications.

7th Network Conference - Criminology in NRW

The next network conference will take place on March 19-20, 2026 at Ruhr University in Bochum.The network is an association of criminologists in North Rhine-Westphalia and consolidates the diverse activities at universities, colleges, and in practice in the fields of criminology, the sociology of deviant behavior and social problems, criminal psychology, and criminal pedagogy. It promotes exchange between research, teaching, and practice and is also aimed at the interested public.You can find the Call for Papers ►here.

In two recent podcasts, Dr. Jens Struck critically discusses the term and the which security authorities deal with so-called clan crime. 

In the "Umdenken" podcast from the University of Münster, he explains why the term creates a biased perception and raises general suspicion of entire (extended) families.

In the WDR podcast "18 Millionen" he critically discusses the NRW authorities´so-called "policy of 1000 pinpricks".
