The professional conference "Parents (partly) inside, children outside – when parent-child relationships are separated by walls" took place on December 16, 2025, at the LWL State House in Münster. The focus was on educational, psychological, and legal issues regarding the impact of parental imprisonment on children, as well as the requirements for a child- and family-oriented design of criminal proceedings and incarceration.
Particularly discussed were the importance of stable parent-child contacts, interdisciplinary cooperation between the correctional system and youth welfare services, and the implementation of children's rights standards. Prof. Dr. Stefanie Kemme (University of Münster) gave a lecture titled: "Child-friendly justice even in criminal proceedings against parents?!"
