The faculty is delighted to welcome Prof. Mel Kenny, who will visiting Münster as Schumann Fellow until June 2018. Mel’s work focuses on the ‘Europeanisation’ of Private law and its impact on the Common law, with particular reference to Contract and Consumer law. Mel reflects on these themes from both Comparative and Private International perspectives; lecturing, beyond Europe, in China, India, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. In addition, Mel has a long-standing research focus in Competition law. In recent years his publications have explored four highly charged legal topics: the implications of Brexit; comparative analysis of the law on unfair terms and penalty clauses; the ‘Europeanisation’ of private law, consolidation proposals and the Digital Single Market initiative; and, finally, the treatment of surety agreements from a comparative perspective.
